Letter from Santa

(Ages 10 & under) Your child will be thrilled to receive a personalized letter from Santa, written just for him or her! Included with the letter will be the North Pole Newsletter, complete with Santa's agenda, a craft idea from the elves, and a holiday recipe from Mrs. Claus. Celebrate Arachnids at CMP

Free! Fall Scarecrow Contest

(All ages) Franklin Park and Franklin Park Arts Center are teaming up to offer a full month of festive fall activities! Enter our scarecrow contest, have fun and win! Scarecrow frames will be provided starting Oct. 1. All scarecrows must be returned by Oct. 15 to be entered. Build yours at home or attend our Scarecrow Building Workshop October 4. Hay and scarecrow frames are provided. Small prizes awarded to top three entries. Scarecrows will be displayed at Franklin Park throughout month of October. Build & Bounce

(Ages 10 & under) First Friday and Saturday activity! Our gym will be filled with building blocks and moonbounces galore. Duplo and Lego blocks, gears, and other building toys for different age groups will be available for participants to test their engineering skills. Participants can jump in our moonbounces to get the creative juices flowing. This is not a drop off event, parents must be present at all times. Call 703-430-9480 for more information.

Fall Plant Exchange

Bring your extra perennial divisions, herbs, houseplants, shrubs, etc. to trade, and meet others who share your interest! Please label your plants. The exchange moves fast, so don't be late. No registration required. Call 571-258-3500 for more information.

Rededication Ceremony in Purcellville

The Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Services will host a rededication ceremony in honor of the Mac Brownell Adult Day Center and the Joseph and Lena Cook Grand Hall (located in the Carver Center) at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 3, 2015. The ceremony will be held near the entrance to the Mac Brownell Adult Day Center, 200 Willie Palmer Way, Purcellville, VA. Refreshments and an open house will follow the ceremony.

Lucketts Bluegrass

The Lucketts Bluegrass tradition continues into its 42nd year and is one of the longest continuously running series of its kind in the country. Old time bands and exciting newcomers are featured from the first Saturday in October through the last Saturday in April. Call 703-771-5281 for more information.
