Youth Advisory Council
The Youth Advisory Council (YAC) consists of Loudoun County high school students. Students are accepted into the program each summer and meet throughout the academic year to plan youth events for their peers, develop leadership skills and get involved with community service events throughout the county.
Battle of the Bands
Battle of the Bands are designed to provide middle school and high school students a safe place to spend a Friday night, while giving local youth bands the opportunity to perform in front of their peers and audition for a spot in the Loudoun YouthFest lineup. The 2014 Battle of the Bands winners was Blank Planet! Registration for bands and soloists opens in September!
Registration for Battle of the Bands is now closed, and all slots are full. Loudoun teens may still apply to be on the waiting list and will be contacted if a spot opens.
YAC plans the annual Loudoun YouthFest which features a nationally known headliner, winners from the Battle of the Bands, great attractions, interactive exhibits and much more. Loudoun YouthFest 2015 will be held at The Barn at One Loudoun.
Step Up Loudoun Youth Competition
Step Up Loudoun Youth Competition is a youth-focused event that identifies youth and community priorities, and helps create enthusiasm and momentum towards making Loudoun County "The Best Place to Grow Up". This event provides opportunities for examining the priorities, influencing the strategies adopted for addressing the priorities, and for participating in the development of action plans. Step Up encourages active engagement in youth-identified programs and services, and brings the diverse components of the community together, to include public and private schools, government, non-profit, faith-based, community, and business organizations, as well as the youth of Loudoun County.
