Communicable Diseases

Control

The control of communicable diseases is a key means by which the Loudoun County Health Department works to ensure the health and well-being of its residents. This is accomplished through:

  • Administering immunizations for vaccine-preventable diseases
  • Investigating potential epidemic or outbreak situations
  • Surveillance of diseases and following-up on reportable diseases
  • Testing and treating for tuberculosis and sexually-transmitted infections

The department also works to manage environmental public health issues, including vector control and food protection.
