COVID-19 Update for Housing

Loudoun County Housing staff are currently working remotely and will continue to provide customer assistance. Email the housing office for assistance. 

  • Resources to protect Virginians from eviction and support individuals who have lost their job or income due to COVID-19:
    • The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued an Order to place a moratorium on evictions nationwide through June 30, 2021 to prevent the further spread of COVID-19.  
    • StayHomeVirginia.com: Provides information about programs, services and resources to help Virginians who have experienced job or income loss and other impacts due to the COVID-19 crisis. It includes guidance on how to work with landlords, financial institutions and others to sustainably utilize temporary eviction and foreclosure protections during this crisis.
    • House Bill 1420 caps late fees on rent and House Bill 340 protects tenants from eviction during emergencies.

  • For tenants paying rent late or unable to pay rent, Loudoun County urges these residents to consider these tips:
    • Submit a written request to your rental management company, ask for an installment plan, or ask to waive late fees or penalties. Use this tool to get help drafting a letter to your landlord.

  • For homeowners, Loudoun County provides foreclosure prevention resources and a list of relief programs for homeowners.

Language interpretation services are available at no cost. After hours and on the weekend complete the online form or send an email.

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development warns homeowners and renters to be on guard against mortgage-related fraud during the COVID-19 pandemic.
