Federal Post Card Application

If you are an active duty member of the uniformed services with a domicile address in Loudoun County, or if you are temporarily abroad and maintain residence and place of abode at an address in Loudoun County, you are eligible to receive a full ballot by mail for all elections. To request a ballot, you will need to fill out the Federal Post Card Application (PDF).

If you have questions while completing this application, please send an email to Elections, or call the Voter Registration Office at 703-777-0380.

This application must be received by our office or postmarked no later than 22 days before the next election day if you need to register and no less than seven days before Election Day if you have already registered

U.S. Citizens Living Abroad

If you are a U.S. citizen and are living abroad, registration using the Federal Post Card Application will ensure that you are able to vote in federal elections. You may also be entitled to vote in state and local elections if your most recent U.S. residence or if your permanent residence is in Loudoun County.

Overseas Due to Employment

If you are overseas due to employment but no longer maintain residence in Loudoun County, you and any dependents residing with you may be eligible for temporary registration. You would receive a full ballot in all elections, provided you and dependents are registered to vote in your former precinct immediately prior to your departure, and your move overseas occurred after July 1, 1999.

Residing Abroad for Other Reasons

If you are residing abroad for other reasons and do not maintain a domicile in Loudoun County, as a U.S. citizen, you are still eligible for a federal ballot. Please complete the Federal Post Card Application (PDF). Your name will be placed on a temporary list for the two subsequent federal elections only. The application must be received or postmarked 29 days prior to the election.
