Description
The Northern Virginia Regional Park Authority is a multi-jurisdictional agency established for the purpose of providing a system of regional parks for the Northern Virginia area. NVRPA strives to offer park, open space and recreational opportunities and facilities not provided by the local parks and recreation department.

Composition
The Northern Virginia Regional Park Authority is governed by a 12-member policy-making Board. The city council or county board of each jurisdiction appoints two members to the NOVA Parks Board.
