The Loudoun Health Commission includes representatives from the health care, business, faith and non-profit communities, from the school system, the Chamber of Commerce and community institutions, from health-related county government agencies, from Loudoun’s town governments, and from the community.
Safe Drinking Water Initiative
The Loudoun Health Commission is working to increase awareness of what residents can do to help protect their drinking water. An important component of this is the proper disposal of unused medications.
Equally important is the periodic testing of well water for potentially harmful contaminants; a list of regulated contaminants under the National Primary Drinking Water Regulations is available from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
Lyme Disease Initiative
The Loudoun Health Commission is working with the Loudoun Lyme Disease Commission to increase awareness of ways Loudoun residents can stay safe from Lyme disease.
Live Healthy Loudoun Needs Assessment
Every five years, the Loudoun Health Commission conducts a public health needs assessment. The most recent assessment was begun in 2013 and the results are available online.
