Bomb Squad

The Loudoun County Bomb Squad is a joint task force comprised of personnel from the Fire Marshal’s Office as well as the Sheriff’s Office.

  • The role of the Loudoun County Bomb Squad is to provide a rapid, technical response to calls for service involving real or suspected explosives and explosive devices; to provide additional resources to the Homeland Security Division; and to provide training and instruction to the Loudoun County First Responders in the recognition of, and response to, situations involving explosives.
  • The Loudoun County Bomb Squad works and trains in concert with other local and state bomb squads, military Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) units, as well as the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) agencies in preparing for events involving explosives and improvised explosive devices. This training involves, but is not limited to, x-ray interpretation, electronics, and use of the bomb suit.
