Loudoun County Combined Fire and Rescue System Paramedic Program
The Loudoun County Fire and Rescue Paramedic program at the Oliver Robert Dubé Fire and Rescue Training Academy is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs upon recommendation of the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions (CoAEMSP).
Paramedic Program Goal
To prepare Paramedics who are competent in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains to enter the profession.

Special Considerations for Clinical Requirements
[*] Paramedic students must start at least two in each age group: pediatric, adult, and geriatric. AEMT students must start at least one in each age group.
[**] After the students have exceeded the required number of operating room rotation hours by eight hours, oral intubations may be performed on an advanced mannequin capable of facilitating interactive airway scenarios (e.g., SimMan) at the discretion of the course coordinator and program director.
SMC Column 1
Column 1 requirements may be completed while classroom sessions are still ongoing. It is expected, during this portion of the program, that students will still need some assistance in completing patient assessments. If these requirements aren’t completed prior to the end of classroom sessions, they should be completed prior to moving onto Column 2 requirements.
SMC Column 2
Column 2 requirements may not be done until after classroom sessions have been completed. It is expected that students will conduct patient assessments and develop management plans on each patient with minimal to no assistance while completing Column 2 requirements.
