About the Project
The Evergreen Mills Road Realignment project provides for the planning, design, right-of-way acquisition, and construction of the realignment of Evergreen Mills Road at the intersections of Reservoir Road and Watson Road. The improvements propose a new four-way signalized intersection between Evergreen Mills Road, Watson Road and Reservoir Road which will improve traffic operations, lines of sight, and safety along this segment of the road.
The purpose of this project is to provide an interim improvement that will enhance traffic operations, congestion and roadway safety throughout the project limits. This project will widen existing Evergreen Mills Road approximately 0.10 miles south of Reservoir Road to the southern end of the Goose Creek bridge, and construct a new signalized intersection with the realigned Watson Road at the existing Reservoir Road location. The improvements will focus on providing safety within this section of the Evergreen Mills Road corridor. The project will also include the installation of stormwater management measures, reconstruction of existing drainage facilities, additional grading to accommodate the future widening of Evergreen Mills Road, utility relocations, improving sight distance and other ancillary improvements. This $25 million project is funded through the Northern Virginia Transportation Authority (NVTA), proffers and local taxes.
