Humane Education Programs at the Shelter

Loudoun County Animal Services (LCAS) provides a variety of humane education programs for groups of all ages. From Critters and Crafts, to educational workshops and events, there is something for children of all ages to participate in and enjoy. 

Upcoming Programs

Critters & Crafts, Every Third Wednesday, 5:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m., LCAS, 42225 Adoption Drive, Leesburg, VA 20175

Join us for Critters & Crafts! This educational program includes learning about an animal and then making a craft to take home. Children of all ages are welcome but those under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. Please sign up to reserve your spot - sign up here!

Summer Camp at LCAS, LCAS, 42225 Adoption Drive, Leesburg, VA 20175

Join us for summer camp at the animal shelter. We will learn about pets, wildlife, tour the shelter, meet adoptable animals, do fun crafts and more! Campers will participate in indoor and outdoor activities. Please note, peanut butter is used throughout the facility. 

Classroom & Afterschool Programs 

School Programs (SOL-based)

LCAS offers programs to schools within Loudoun County at no cost. School programs are available for all grades and needs. Humane educators focus on meeting Virginia Standards of Learning with all programs. Educators are also able to bring animals to certain programs, if an appropriate animal is available and the school allows it.

Teachers or administrators interested in a humane education program at their school should submit our online Humane Education Program Request Form.

After School Programs

In addition to classroom programs, LCAS offers humane education programs to groups and clubs outside of school. This includes, CASA, YAS, Girl Scouts, BSA and other independent groups. These programs are for all ages and led by a humane educator.
