Posted on May 27, 2022 at 11:51 AM by Nancy McCormick

Loudoun County invites members of the public to attend a ribbon cutting for a new segment of the county’s Linear Parks & Trails System (LPAT) Saturday, June 11, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. Parking will be available a short distance away from the trail at 45299 Research Place, Ashburn.

Working in partnership with the Northern Virginia Criminal Justice Training Academy (NVCJTA) and Potomac Heritage Trail Association, the Loudoun County Department of Parks, Recreation & Community Services has opened a new natural surface trail. The trail will become part of the Potomac Heritage National Scenic Trail and the Loudoun County Linear Parks and Trails network. The trail on the NVCJTA property is within a public access easement and adds an additional 2,200 ft. of trail along Broad Run.

Loudoun County is developing an interconnected, countywide linear parks and trails system. The comprehensive system will provide a variety of functions and benefits, including recreation, alternative transportation, wildlife habitat, water quality protection, flood hazard reduction, aquifer recharge, erosion prevention, property value enhancement, economic development and scenic beauty.
