Draft Zoning Ordinance Rewrite Process Continues with Planning Commission Review

Posted on September 8, 2022 at 2:32 PM by Nancy McCormick

The Loudoun County Planning Commission continues to review the draft Zoning Ordinance. The Commission’s review schedule includes two Planning Commission public hearings and a series of work sessions following each public hearing. The Planning Commission began its review of initial chapters of the draft ordinance at the August 30, 2022, Planning Commission public hearing. A second Planning Commission public hearing, which will be scheduled for the fall of 2022, will consider the remaining chapters.

Planning and Zoning staff are actively reviewing public comments received regarding the draft Zoning Ordinance text, including comments submitted during the recent 90-day public comment period, which closed in July. Staff will continue to review and address public comments and will make additional recommendations for the Planning Commission’s consideration through a series of work sessions, which will take place over the next several months.

The public can review draft text in advance of the work sessions on the county’s website. Although there is no in-person public comment periods at these work sessions, the public can review those drafts on an ongoing basis and provide comment through the project’s online comment form

At the September 8, 2022, Planning Commission work session, staff will present an information item on solar facilities (PDF) to inform the Planning Commission about the text being developed for solar facilities in the draft zoning ordinance and to receive feedback on potential revisions.
