Turn lane Closure and Traffic Shift on Belmont Ridge Road

Posted on November 30, 2022 at 4:02 PM by Heidi Kellum

Due to the construction on Belmont Ridge Road, drivers should be aware of a turn lane closure and traffic shift in early December through the end of the year, weather permitting. Beginning on or about December 2, 2022, the right turn lane at Belmont Ridge Road southbound and Reservoir Ridge Road into the Reservoir Ridge Community will be closed. Right turns will be made from a through lane at this intersection, as shown in the Reservoir Ridge Lane Closure Diagram (PDF)

In addition, beginning on or about December 8, 2022, Belmont Ridge Road northbound traffic will be switched onto a new roadway alignment between Croson Lane and Cochrans Lock Drive. The right turn lane into the Village of Waxpool will be reduced.

Drivers should use extra caution when traveling through these areas. Please follow all directions from the posted signs and road crews as heavy construction is underway and residents are entering and exiting their neighborhoods off Belmont Ridge Road between Croson Lane and Truro Parish Drive.

This project reconstructs and widens Belmont Ridge Road between Truro Parish Drive and Croson Lane from the existing two-lane rural road to a modern four-lane, median-divided, suburban roadway, with shared-use paths for pedestrians and bicyclists on each side. Project benefits include alleviating traffic in the corridor, providing active transportation solutions, and connecting commuters to major activity and employment centers.

Funding for this regionally significant project is from Loudoun County, NVTA and the state’s Revenue Sharing Program administered by VDOT-LAP. Construction is expected to be completed by summer 2024.
