Courthouse Expansion Crews Complete Interior Framing and Utility Rough-in

Posted on January 31, 2023 at 1:47 PM by Heidi Kellum

Construction crews working on the Loudoun County Courthouse Expansion project at the corner of Church Street and Edwards Ferry Road in downtown Leesburg have recently completed the interior framing and utility rough-in of the new Courthouse building. The expansion project includes the design and construction of a new 92,000-square-foot Loudoun County District Courthouse and renovation of existing courts facilities, including new parking facilities. Work to install drywall, door frames and window glazing is nearing completion on all levels. Permanent power for the new building has been established, and crews have begun to install the elevators and paint interior walls.

On the outside of the building, Church Street from Market to Cornwall remains closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic while crews work to complete the installation of dry utilities. Tunnel construction has been completed.

Planning is underway for the start of the existing courthouse renovation associated with the new tunnel. The Loudoun County Courthouse Expansion project is expected to be complete and open to the public in 2023.

Visitors to the Loudoun County Courthouse will continue to have access to free parking throughout the duration of the project at the Pennington Lot and Pennington Garage which are located approximately two blocks from the courthouse near the intersection of Church and North Streets, NE.
