Traffic Shifts on Belmont Ridge Road; Cochrans Lock Drive Right Turn Lane Closure

Posted on March 16, 2023 at 3:11 PM by Heidi Kellum

On or about March 30, 2023 through April 9, 2023, Belmont Ridge Road northbound and southbound traffic will be switched onto a new roadway alignment between Croson Lane and Reservoir Ridge Place. Lanes will be a single lane in each direction using both temporary crossover lanes and newly paved travel lanes. See diagram.

Additionally, the northbound Belmont Ridge Road right turn lane on to Cochrans Lock Drive will be closed from April 1, 2023 through April 9, 2023. To reach Cochran Lock Drive, drivers will need to follow the posted detour. See detour map.

Drivers should use extra caution and slow down when traveling through these areas. Please follow all directions from the posted detour signs and road crews as heavy construction is underway and residents are entering and exiting their neighborhoods off Belmont Ridge Road between Croson Lane and Truro Parish Drive.

This project reconstructs and widens Belmont Ridge Road between Truro Parish Drive and Croson Lane from the existing two-lane rural road to a modern four-lane, median-divided, suburban roadway, with shared-use paths for pedestrians and bicyclists on each side. Project benefits include alleviating traffic in the corridor, providing active transportation solutions, and connecting commuters to major activity and employment centers.

Funding for this regionally significant project is from Loudoun County, Northern Virginia Transportation Authority (NVTA) and the state’s Revenue Sharing Program administered by Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT)-Locally Administered Projects (LAP). Construction is expected to be completed by summer 2024.
