Milling and Paving Schedule Extended to April 3; Roads Remain Open, Expect Delays

This message serves to replace prior public messaging regarding the milling and paving schedule for work beginning today, March 31, 2023.

As part of Loudoun County’s Courthouse Complex Expansion project, milling and paving on Church Street from Market Street to North Street, began today, March 31, 2023, and will be extended through Monday, April 3, 2023. In the event of weather delays, construction may continue each successive day until it can be completed. Roads are now scheduled to remain open throughout the work, including North Street, Cornwall Street and Slack Lane. 

Milling and Paving
On Friday, March 31, 2023, construction crews will mill existing asphalt on Church Street from Market Street to North Street. Crews will also install a base coat of asphalt on Church Street from Market Street to North Street on Friday, March 31, 2023.  

Weather permitting, on Monday, April 3, 2023, crews will install a final coat of asphalt on Church Street.  

Roads Remain Open, Expect Delays
Road closures are no longer anticipated; however, intermittent delays should be expected if traveling on North Street, Cornwall Street or Slack Lane. Please use caution when traveling in the area and follow the direction of any posted signage and road crews.

All roads, including Church Street, are expected to be open upon completion of paving on Monday, April 3, 2023. 

Courthouse Complex Expansion Project
This construction is part of the Loudoun County Courthouse Complex expansion project that includes the design and construction of the new 92,000-square-foot Loudoun County District Courthouse and renovation of existing courts facilities, including new parking facilities. 

Visitors to the Loudoun County Courthouse will continue to have access to free parking throughout the duration of the project at the Pennington Lot and Pennington Garage which are  located approximately two blocks from the courthouse near the intersection of Church and North Streets, NE.
