Loudoun County Update
  • The Loudoun County Board of Supervisors has approved a budget totaling approximately $3.0 billion in total appropriations for the general county government and school system for the Fiscal Year (FY) 2021. The Board approved County Administrator Tim Hemstreet's recommendation that the county plan for a revenue shortfall in FY 2021 of up to $100 million as revenues within the FY 2021 budget were constructed on assumptions of economic growth that are unlikely to be fully realized due to COVID-19. $100 million in planned FY 2021 expenditures will be placed into a reserve.   • Governor Ralph Northam today requested the General Assembly move the May General Election and all special elections scheduled for May 5, 2020 to the November 3, 2020 General Election date to further mitigate the spread of COVID-19. Read the news release.
  • Governor Northam today also issued an executive directive authorizing the Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control Authority (ABC) to defer annual fees for licenses and permits that would be up for renewal through June. The Governor also directed the Virginia ABC to allow establishments with mixed beverage licenses, such as restaurants and distilleries, to sell mixed beverages through takeout or delivery, effective at midnight Thursday.   • As of April 8, 48 U.S. states and 1 U.S. territory report some community spread of COVID-19. Of those, 32 report COVID-19 cases are widespread. When out for essential trips, wear a cloth face covering and keep at least 6 feet of physical distance between yourself and others.
