Loudoun County Update
  • The Loudoun County Board of Supervisors approved $1 million in grant funding for the COVID-19 Business Interruption Fund to support Loudoun businesses impacted by the coronavirus outbreak; Loudoun Economic Development will administer the grant process. The fund will open for applications at noon on April 29, 2020, and remain open for 72 hours, closing at noon on May 2, 2020. The Board of Supervisors has made an additional $150,000 fund available to help Loudoun's agriculture-based businesses with up to two employees. Read the news release for details
  • Chair Randall and Loudoun County Economic Development Executive Director Buddy Rizer discussed resources for the Loudoun business community and answered questions from the public on Facebook Live today. Their discussion included the Loudoun County Business Interruption Fund and the Loudoun Farms Marketplace. View the recording.
  • The Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments has been working to connect and support area officials in their efforts to prepare for and respond to COVID-19 - sharing best practices, research, messaging, and information regarding medical surge, continuity of government operations, and contracting. Area officials have committed to coordinating during and after COVID-19, paving the way for regional coordination on a safe, scientifically-informed reopening strategy, when appropriate. Learn more.
  • The Northern Virginia Economic Development Alliance launched a three-part, 12 session webinar series - Beyond COVID-19: NOVA Business Resiliency Webinars. Created for NOVA businesses to ensure they have the latest and best possible information from a variety of experts, these webinars will focus on how to keep moving forward during and after the current global pandemic.   • Facebook for Business has just launched a Small Business Grants Program. If you are a small business experiencing disruptions resulting from the global outbreak of COVID-19, you may be eligible for a cash grant or ad credit. Keep your workforce going strong, get help with your rent costs, connect with more customers, and/or get coverage for operational costs. Learn more
  • Reminder: Beware of COVID-19 scammers trying to use your compassion or fear of the virus against you. Learn more about these scams. Additionally, the Virginia Coronavirus Fraud Task Force and Internal Revenue Service-Criminal Investigations (IRS-CI) are warning taxpayers to be alert about possible scams relating to COVID-19 economic impact payments.
