Loudoun County Update

• Board of Supervisors Chair Phyllis J. Randall and Loudoun County Health Department Director Dr. David Goodfriend discussed the COVID-19 response in Loudoun and answered questions from the public on Facebook Live today. View the recording. 
• The CDC has updated the list of COVID-19 symptoms to include six additional symptoms that are possibly associated with the disease. People with COVID-19 have had a wide range of symptoms reported, ranging from mild symptoms to severe illness. These symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure to the virus: fever, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, chills, repeated shaking with chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, and/or new loss of taste or smell. • Verizon is extending its commitment to keep customers connected through June 30, 2020. Verizon will neither terminate service nor charge late fees to postpaid wireless, residential, and small business customers that notify Verizon of their inability to pay their bills due to disruptions caused by the coronavirus pandemic. • The newest graduates of the Loudoun County Fire and Rescue Recruit Academy observed social distancing measures during their graduation ceremony last week. It was the 39th recruit class to graduate from the academy. The graduates completed an extensive course that incorporated 1,000 hours of both emergency medical technician (EMT) and firefighting training into a 28-week program. • On Friday, April 24, 2020, Governor Ralph Northam presented the "Forward Virginia" blueprint, which will help guide the Commonwealth on when to safely begin easing public health restrictions. The blueprint includes a phased approach that is grounded in the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines and has specific goals to contain the spread of the virus through increased testing, personal protective equipment and supplies, and medical capacity.
