Loudoun County Update
- 400 More Loudoun Businesses Receive $5,000 Relief Grants
Recipients of the latest round of funding from the Loudoun Business Interruption Fund are reacting to being chosen to receive financial assistance. Four-hundred Loudoun small businesses, those with two or fewer employees, will each receive a $5,000 grant to help mitigate the economic impact of COVID-19. These small businesses make up the largest segment of the business community in Loudoun. Read more in this news release.
- Governor Northam Provides COVID-19 Updates
Governor Ralph Northam made several announcements at his COVID-19 news conference today. In addition to an update on COVID-19 cases, testing and contact tracing, the governor announced that funding from the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act will be used to develop statewide programs to help prevent evictions and to provide those in need with help paying utility bills. Details on these programs will be forthcoming in the next several weeks. This was the governor’s final regularly scheduled COVID-19 news conference. Going forward, as Virginia enters
Phase 3 of the reopening plan July 1, the news conferences will be held as needed.

- CDC and FDA Issue Statement on Food Packaging and COVID-19
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration have issued a joint statement regarding food export restrictions pertaining to COVID-19. The two agencies report that there is no evidence that people can contract COVID-19 from food packaging. Read the statement.
- IRS Announces Rollover Relief
The Internal Revenue Service has announced that that anyone who already took a required minimum distribution (RMD) in 2020 from certain retirement accounts has the opportunity to roll those funds back into a retirement account following the CARES Act RMD waiver for 2020. Read details from the IRS.
