Loudoun County Update
  • Loudoun, Northern Virginia, to Enter Phase Three of 'Reopening' Plan July 1: Virginia Governor Ralph Northam announced last week that Virginia - including Loudoun County and the rest of Northern Virginia - will move into the third phase of the state's gradual reopening on Wednesday, July 1, 2020. The Loudoun County government continues to practice social distancing and other measures that help limit the spread of germs. Members of the public are encouraged to visit the county's website to conduct business online and to view any impacts to in-person services prior to visiting a county facility. Read the news release
  • Increase in COVID-19 Among Teens, Young Adults; Prompts Reminder to Follow Prevention Steps: Over the past week, Loudoun County health officials have noticed an increase in the number of positive tests for the coronavirus that causes COVID-19 among residents in the age groups of 10 to 19 years and 20 to 29 years. 
    • Parents, young adults and teens are encouraged to remain vigilant in taking the following precautions:
      • Avoid large gatherings of people and sharing living space with people outside your immediate household.
      • Practice social distancing: stay 6 feet apart from others whenever possible.
      • Wear a face covering over the nose and mouth while in public, particularly indoors.
      • Wash hands frequently with soap and water for 20 seconds; use hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol when soap and water are not available.
      • Stay home when sick, except when seeking medical care.
      • Avoid close contact with people who are sick, including in your home.
      • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
      • Clean and disinfect frequently-touched surfaces frequently.
      • Cover coughs and sneezes when not wearing a face covering.

  • Building and Development will resume in-person building and trade inspections on July 1. 
    • All inspectors will be required to wear face coverings and maintain a safe distance from others. Whenever possible, inspectors will ask to be directed to the entrance closest to the work needing inspection to avoid walking through a residence. 
    • Inspections that were not eligible for the virtual inspection process, such as gas inspections in occupied residential structures, can be scheduled for on or after July 1, 2020. 
    • Customers may schedule all inspections through the Web Automated Inspection Request System (WAIRS). 
  • Loudoun County Metro Connection Bus Routes to Resume July 6: Loudoun County Transit will resume service for Metro Connection Bus Routes 990 and 992 on Monday, July 6, 2020. This comes as Loudoun County moves into Phase Three of the "Forward Virginia" reopening plan, which gradually eases restrictions meant to slow the spread of COVID-19. Read the news release.
  • Planning Air Travel? All travelers, including those flying, will need to follow the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention travel guidance regarding COVID-19. In airports, Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officers will now ask travelers to place their boarding pass on the reader and briefly adjust their mask to make sure their photo ID is that of the passenger.
