A public information meeting was held on September 26, 2019 to discuss the features of the proposed Ashburn Recreation and Community Center. The meeting was held in the Loudoun County Public Schools board room. The center, a 117,000 square foot building, is currently in design and will be constructed near the public schools' administration building off Broadlands Blvd.
Consultants from MJMA/Page outlined what residents can expect to see in the new center. Some of the features include a 50 meter competition swimming pool, full size gym, fitness areas, indoor running track and a walking path around the exterior of the property. Staff from the Loudoun County Department of Transportation and Capital Infrastructure and the Loudoun County Department of Recreation, Parks and Community Services were also on hand to answer questions.
Groundbreaking for the center is anticipated to take place in Spring or Summer 2020 with construction taking between 24 and 30 months to complete.
