  • Loudoun to Reduce Capacity in Board Room; Public Encouraged to View Supervisors' Meetings Remotely: Loudoun County is reducing the capacity of the Board Room at the Loudoun County Government Center to 25 members of the public following Governor Ralph Northam’s announcement Friday of new statewide measures that help mitigate the spread of COVID-19. The Governor’s order reduces public and private in-person gatherings to 25 individuals from 250 people. Members of the public are encouraged to view the Board of Supervisors’ meetings and Planning Commission public hearing on TV or online. The meetings are televised on Comcast Government Channel 23, Open Band Channel 40 and Verizon FiOS Channel 40 and livestreamed at loudoun.gov/meetings. Read the news release.
  • Loudoun Officials Warn Again Jury Duty Scams: Loudoun Clerk of the Circuit Court Gary M. Clemens cautions Loudoun residents to be aware of a recent jury duty scam. The fraudulent activity involves individuals claiming to work for the courts or law enforcement who call residents and tell them they failed to report for jury duty and to avoid any penalty from the Circuit Court, the residents can pay a fine over the phone. In some cases, they offer the victims a chance to buy a gift card and then call them back for the gift card information. Clemens reminds residents that currently, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, no jury trials are being conducted. Jury trials are not scheduled to begin again until at least January 2021.
