Loudoun County Update

• Johnson & Johnson Vaccine to be Used in Loudoun: The Loudoun County Health Department will begin offering COVID-19 vaccine from three manufacturers starting this Saturday, March 6, 2021: Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson. The county will receive a shipment of approximately 1,500 doses of Johnson & Johnson vaccine later this week. This comes after the Food and Drug Administration found the Johnson & Johnson vaccine to be safe and effective, and authorized it for emergency use. 
  • The Health Department does not recommend one brand of vaccine over another and those getting vaccinated will not be able to choose which vaccine they will receive. As Health Director Dr. David Goodfriend said in our earlier blog post:  “Ultimately, the best vaccine for you will be the one that is available to you first; each vaccine has been proven to protect against serious illness, hospitalization and death from COVID-19.”
  • Loudoun County continues to work as quickly as possible to vaccinate people who are on the waitlist in the order in which pre-registrations were received and in accordance with the mandated priorities established by the Virginia Department of Health. The county is currently offering appointments to people who submitted pre-registration forms on January 19, 2021. If you have not already signed up to receive a COVID-19 vaccine, you may do so at loudoun.gov/covid19vaccine. 
• COVID-19 Update on Board of Supervisors March 2 Meeting Agenda: Loudoun County Health Director Dr. David Goodfriend will provide an update on COVID-19 and the county’s vaccination efforts at tonight’s (3/2/21) Board of Supervisors meeting, which begins at 5:00 p.m.

• Next COVID-19 Testing Event is March 4: The next Loudoun County-sponsored COVID-19 testing event will be held Thursday, March 4 at Franklin Park 17501 Franklin Park Drive, Purcellville. The testing events are being held twice a week, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at various locations throughout the county.
