Due to unforeseen circumstances, the contractor for the new Loudoun County Courthouse has delayed pouring the concrete slabs for the second level until Monday, April 12, 2021.
Construction will start before the contractor’s current allowable work hours of 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Construction activity onsite will begin at 6:00 a.m., at which time the crews will set-up concrete pumping equipment. Concrete for the pour will be scheduled to arrive at approximately 7:00 a.m. Loudoun County has received the required approvals for the change in the work hours.
The pump truck and concrete deliveries will be located adjacent to Edwards Ferry Road. Residents should expect intermittent lane closures on Edward Ferry Road and to hear increased construction noise including truck back-up alarms and extra lighting during the early morning and evening hours. Drivers should use extra caution when traveling through this area and follow all directions from the posted signs and road crews.
Construction of the new facility is now estimated at 25 percent complete. Future phases of construction include construction of concrete deck slabs, electrical pathway installation, exterior wall framing, and building a tunnel under Church Street that connects the existing courthouse to the new building. The project is expected to be complete and open to the public in 2023.
Visitors to the Loudoun County Courthouse will continue to have access to free parking throughout the duration of the project. The Pennington Lot and Pennington Garage are located approximately two blocks from the courthouse near the intersection of Church and North Streets, NE.
