Loudoun County Update

• How to Pre-Register for a COVID-19 Vaccine: Now that more people are eligible to pre-register for a COVID-19 vaccine, it's a good time to review how to do that. All Loudoun County residents 16 and older are eligible to pre-register to receive a COVID-19 vaccination. There are two ways to pre-register: 
  • Online: Visit vaccinate.virginia.gov to submit a pre-registration form. The fastest method for receiving a vaccination appointment is to include a unique email address in separate pre-registration forms for each individual who will receive a vaccine.
  • Phone: Individuals who do not have access to the internet can pre-register by calling 1-877-829-4682.
• Other Vaccination Opportunities: In addition to receiving a vaccine from Loudoun County, people can also look for available appointment slots at pharmacies and other locations near them by visiting vaccinefinder.org. Note that these entities do not coordinate their registrations with the Health Department.
• Did You Receive a J&J Vaccine? Out of an abundance of caution, the Food and Drug Administration and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention called for a pause on the use of the Johnson & Johnson (J&J) COVID-19 vaccine after six recipients in the United States developed a rare disorder involving blood clots within about two weeks of vaccination. Anyone who has received the J&J vaccine who develops severe headache, abdominal pain, leg pain or shortness of breath within three weeks after vaccination should contact their health care provider. Anyone who has already received the J&J vaccine does not need to receive another type of vaccine. The vaccine will provide protection against COVID-19. 
• COVID-19 Volunteers in Loudoun Recognized: Several individuals and groups are being honored for their volunteer service related to the COVID-19 pandemic as recipients of Loudoun Cares' 2021 Outstanding Volunteer Awards. Honorees include the Loudoun County Medical Reserve Corps and Loudoun County COVID-19 Testing Task Force Chairman Dr. John Farrell. • COVID-19 Testing Continues Next Week: Loudoun County's next COVID-19 testing event will be held Tuesday, April 20, 2021, 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., at Dulles South Recreation & Community Center in South Riding. The county is holding free, drive-thru COVID-19 testing events on Tuesdays in April. More information, including the complete schedule of events, is online at loudoun.gov/COVID19testing.
