Utility and Foundation Work Underway for Sterling Fire and Rescue Interim Station

Posted on May 21, 2021 at 11:26 AM by Heidi Kellum

Late last month, a modular building that will serve as the interim fire station while a permanent facility is constructed was delivered to the jobsite for the new Sterling Park Safety Center. The interim location will provide the Sterling Volunteer Fire and Rescue Companies a base to continue operations until construction of the new Sterling Park Safety Center is completed. The temporary building will be installed at the location of the former PTEX automotive shop building on East Holley Avenue in Sterling, following construction of the foundation and the completion of utility work, already in progress.

In the last few weeks, crews completed construction of the underground plumbing and concrete flooring for the interim apparatus bay. Work to install the remaining underground utilities and concrete foundations for the interim facility is ongoing.

This project provides funding to design and construct a new 22,000 square foot replacement station for the Sterling Volunteer Fire and Rescue Companies. The new facility will replace the current 8,772-square-foot building on this site dating from 1970 and provide more storage and parking. The one-acre property will also expand by a third of an acre.

Currently, construction is estimated to be complete in summer 2022.
