Sterling Fire and Rescue Interim Station Nears Completion

Posted on July 2, 2021 at 8:34 AM by Heidi Kellum

At the location of the former PTEX automotive shop building on East Holley Avenue in Sterling, VA, crews have completed the installation of the modular building that will serve as the interim fire station while a permanent facility is constructed. Paving and striping work for the interim facility has also been completed.

Over the next several weeks, crews will finish work to prepare the interim building for the Sterling Volunteer Fire and Rescue Companies to move in. This work includes the build-out of the interim apparatus bay. The construction of the new Sterling Park Safety Center will begin with the completion of the interim station.

This project provides funding to design and construct a new 22,000 square foot replacement station for the Sterling Volunteer Fire and Rescue Companies. The new facility will replace the current 8,772-square-foot building on this site dating from 1970 and provide more storage and parking. The one-acre property will also expand by a third of an acre.

Currently, construction is estimated to be complete in summer 2022.
