Loudoun County Update

  • Loudoun County Clinic Closing August 24: Loudoun County will administer the final dose of COVID-19 vaccine at its Dulles Town Center clinic the evening of Tuesday, August 24, 2021. The closing of the county’s vaccination clinic comes as demand for vaccines from the county continues to decline and the opportunity to get a vaccine from other providers in the community increases. The county will continue to provide first and second doses of COVID-19 vaccine through the regularly scheduled hours on Tuesday, August 24; however, individuals who receive their first dose within 21 days (Pfizer) or 28 days (Moderna) of the clinic’s closure must receive their second dose from another COVID-19 vaccine provider. In addition, the county is adjusting the clinic hours beginning July 27. To review the current and future hours of operation at the Dulles Town Center vaccination clinic, and to make an appointment for a COVID-19 vaccination, visit loudoun.gov/covid19vaccine.
  • Upcoming Community Vaccination Clinics: COVID-19 vaccines will be offered at two upcoming community events in Loudoun. The events will offer the two-dose Pfizer vaccine to anyone 12 and older. The vaccines are available for free on a first-come, first-served basis as long as vaccine supplies last; however, appointments are also available through pre-registration.
    • Thursday, July 22, 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., Sugarland Elementary School, 65 Sugarland Run Drive, Sterling.  Sponsored by Loudoun Hunger Relief; free grocery store gift card for those receiving a vaccination.
    • Saturday, August 7, 11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., Bluemont Community Center, 33846 Snickersville Turnpike, Bluemont.

  • Other Vaccine Providers: A number of providers in Loudoun, such as local pharmacies and grocery stores also offer COVID-19 vaccine and many of them welcome walk-ins. Find vaccine near you by visiting vaccines.gov.
  • Protecting Family Members who are Not Vaccinated: You may be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, but children too young to get vaccinated still need to be protected. Unvaccinated children two years of age and older should wear a mask in public settings. People who have a condition or are taking medications that weaken their immune system may not be protected even if they are fully vaccinated. They should continue to take all precautions recommended for unvaccinated people, including wearing a well-fitted mask, until advised otherwise by their health care provider.
  • Variants of Concern: Health officials continue to emphasize that the best way to protect yourself and your family from COVID-19 is to get a vaccine, especially in light of the spread of variants of the virus that causes COVID-19. These “variants of concern” are able to spread more easily and cause more severe illness. There are currently four COVID-19 variants of concern in the U.S. that are being closely monitored. These are Alpha (B.1.1.7), Beta (B.1.351), Gamma (P.1), and Delta (B.1.617.2). These four variants have all been identified in Virginia.
