County to Begin Public Input Activities for the Route 15 (South) Study

Posted on April 20, 2020 at 1:56 PM by Nancy McCormick

Loudoun County's Department of Transportation and Capital Infrastructure will hold the first in a series of public input activities on the Route 15 (South) Safety and Operational Study later this month.

The purpose of the study is to identify safety issues on Route 15 from the south corporate limit of the Town of Leesburg to the Prince William County line, and to analyze roadway conditions and traffic data to address existing and future operational issues. Work began in the fall of 2019 to evaluate existing conditions along Route 15 (South) including roadway and intersection safety, roadway design and traffic. When the study is complete, the results will be presented to the Board of Supervisors with recommended phased improvements.

A focus group, consisting of property owners, business owners and community groups, will provide input on the corridor through a facilitated discussion in an effort to capture local observations, perspectives and concerns along the corridor. Members of the public may observe the focus group meeting, which is scheduled for February 27, 2020, at 6:00 p.m. at the Loudoun County Government Center; however, the public will not be able to participate in the discussion.

Public feedback is encouraged and, at this time, can be submitted in writing via email. Future opportunities for public input will be announced at a later date.
