COVID-19 Vaccine Boosters Not Yet Available in Loudoun

Posted on September 24, 2021 at 4:48 PM by Nancy McCormick

The Loudoun County Health Department is awaiting specific guidance from federal and state officials before being able to offer booster doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine to county residents.

Early today, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) endorsed an emergency use authorization for booster shots of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine and recommended the booster for specific populations to be administered at least six months after the second dose of Pfizer vaccine.

“Once the logistics of the vaccine booster rollout have been worked out in Virginia, Loudoun County will announce when we can begin offering the booster doses of Pfizer vaccine at our Dulles Town Center site; for now, our priority remains vaccinating those who have not yet received their first or second dose,” said Loudoun County Health Director Dr. David Goodfriend.
