Construction of the future Ashburn Recreation Center in Ashburn, Va. is currently estimated to begin spring 2022. The new 115,000-square-foot recreation and community center facility will be located off of Broadlands Boulevard, west of the intersection with Claiborne Parkway. Construction contractor bids were received on December 8, 2021, in response to the County’s official Invitation For Bid (IFB) issued on October 7. When the current bid evaluation process is complete, the project team will seek the approval of the Board of Supervisors to award the contract.

The two-story Ashburn Recreation Center facility will feature a 50-meter competition pool, leisure pool, spa, full-size gymnasium, soft sensory playroom, multipurpose room with a catering and teaching kitchen, classrooms, offices and meeting spaces. The second floor will include fitness areas, running track, spectator seating for the competition pool and viewing area for the leisure pool. Additional features include a multi-use trail around the property, a large courtyard with seating, a splash play area and playground equipment.

When complete, the facility will be utilized by Loudoun County Parks, Recreation and Community Services (PRCS) to provide programs and services for the community.
