[ARCHIVED] Right of Way Activities for Route 9/287 Roundabout Set for Fall 2023 Completion

The original item was published from June 16, 2023 2:48 PM to June 16, 2023 2:48 PM

The Right-of-Way (ROW) phase for the Route 9/287 Roundabout project is currently set to be completed in fall 2023. This project provides for the design, ROW acquisition and construction of a two-lane roundabout at the intersection of Route 9 and Route 287. The project’s Utilities Relocation phase will begin in fall 2023, following the ROW phase. More information about Loudoun County Capital Project phases is provided at loudoun.gov/capitalprojects.

The project consists of a new 2-lane roundabout at the intersection of Route 9 and Route 287 with widened roadway approaches. Improvements will also include new drainage and storm water facilities, as well as relocation of utilities that will be impacted by the project. When complete, the project will significantly reduce existing traffic congestion, improve safety, and provide a long-term, cost-effective solution for future roadway operation and maintenance. The project is currently estimated for substantial completion in fall 2026.
