COVID-19 Summary Report for April 14, 2020

Loudoun County Update
  • Loudoun County Board of Supervisors Chair Phyllis J. Randall has ordered the Loudoun County flag to be flown at half-staff in honor of Loudoun residents who have died of COVID-19 and in recognition of the many essential workers who are responding to the pandemic. Beginning next week, the county flag will be lowered to half-staff at county facilities every Monday from dawn to dusk. Members of the Board of Supervisors held a solemn ceremony today. View video of the ceremony and read the news release for additional details.
  • Has your job been affected by COVID-19? If you are facing a lay off and/or looking for your next job opportunity, check out these resources for guidance and assistance:
    • Unemployment Insurance: If you are unemployed or are working less than full time for your regular employer because of lack of work, you can apply for unemployment insurance benefits through the Virginia Employment Commission. Explore this guide developed by Loudoun Economic Development to help navigate the application process.
    • Job and Career Resources: If you are looking for your next career opportunity or you are interested in brushing up on your job skills, the Loudoun Workforce Resource Center (WRC) can help. The WRC team is offering many virtual services including resume critiques, LinkedIn profile reviews, mock interviews, employment coaching, learning resources, virtual workshops and virtual job fairs.   • Loudoun County households that have not yet responded to the 2020 census will be receiving paper questionnaires through the mail this week. Although the federal government has extended the response time for the census due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, Loudoun County officials encourage residents to respond now if they have not already done so.   • Loudoun County is opening a second location for residents and businesses to drop off donations of personal protective equipment for distribution to Loudoun-based health care providers and facilities in need. The second location will be at the Dulles South Recreation and Community Center beginning on Wednesday, April 15, 2020. Read the news release for details.
  • The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office (LCSO) started a prescription pick-up and delivery assistance program for the county's senior residents and those who are more vulnerable to COVID-19. Members of LCSO, in coordination with the resident, or their family, as well as local pharmacies, will pick-up prescription medications from Loudoun pharmacies and deliver the items to private residences in the county.
