Loudoun County Update

• Loudoun County encourages members of the public to remain vigilant in taking the necessary steps to take care of yourself, your families and others in the community as the virus that causes COVID-19 continues to spread throughout our region. To assist residents with identifying the signs of illness and knowing what to do if they become sick, the county has published a guide: Steps to Slow the Spread of COVID-19. The guide lists steps that will slow the spread of COVID-19 in Loudoun and will help protect everyone, including seniors and those with underlying medical conditions. • Loudoun County is allocating $150,000 for emergency food assistance programs in response to the increased need caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The Board of Supervisors approved the funding to help local food assistance providers that serve Loudoun individuals and families. Local food banks are reporting a significant increase in the numbers of people who are seeking emergency food assistance. Read the news release for details. 
• Governor Northam announced today that he will extend Executive Order Fifty-Three for two weeks, through Friday, May 8, 2020. Executive Order Fifty-Three bans crowds of more than 10 people; closes recreation, entertainment, and personal care businesses; and limits restaurants to offering takeout and delivery services only. • The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has started sending payments to taxpayers affected by COVID-19, referred to as economic impact payments. 
  • These payments are automatic for taxpayers who filed tax returns in 2018 and 2019 and most seniors and retirees. If you are eligible for a payment, you can use the online tool, Get My Payment, to check on payment date and update direct deposit information. 
  • If you did not file a tax return for 2018 or 2019 and don't receive Social Security retirement, disability (SSDI), or survivor benefits and Railroad Retirement benefits, you can register for your payment using the Non-filers: Enter Payment Info Here tool.
