Loudoun County Reminds Residents of COVID-19 Prevention Measures in Place at the Government Center

Posted on July 21, 2020 at 1:35 PM by Nancy McCormick

With a larger than usual crowd expected at the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors business meeting Tuesday, July 21, 2020, county officials are implementing measures to ensure as many people as possible may attend the meeting in person safely, which includes maintaining physical distancing measures. All visitors to the Government Center this evening will be required to wear a face covering to enter the Government Center to attend the Board meeting.

In compliance with Virginia and Loudoun County rules, anyone who is entering, exiting, traveling through and spending time in a Loudoun County government facility is required to wear a face covering to help slow the spread of the novel coronavirus. In addition, people need to maintain a distance of at least 6 feet from others in public places.

To maintain the social distancing measures, the capacity of the Board Room is less than normal and seating will be arranged so that people are at least 6 feet apart. A maximum of 55 people will be admitted to the Board Room (not including Board members and staff in the count). There will be procedures in place at the Government Center to monitor the number of people in the Board Room at one time so that it does not exceed capacity.

Because not every resident who would like to attend the Board meeting in person can safely be admitted, the county is providing alternate methods for viewing and participating in the meeting. Residents who would like to provide input to the Board may find instructions at loudoun.gov/remoteparticipation. Members of the public may also email the Board or call the Board’s public phone line at 703-777-0204 or comment line at 703-777-0115.

Officials encourage residents to watch or listen to the meeting remotely. The meeting will be televised on Comcast Government Channel 23, Open Band Channel 40, and Verizon FiOS Channel 40 and livestreamed at loudoun.gov/meetings

Documents prepared for the meeting are posted at loudoun.gov/bosdocuments.
