Design Revisions Underway for Waxpool Road Intersection Improvements

Posted on November 18, 2020 at 3:43 PM by Heidi Kellum

Design revisions for the Waxpool Road Intersection Improvements project are underway to incorporate comments provided by Building and Development (B&D) and the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT). The design team is coordinating the revisions with impacted property owners. Due to the revisions, the amount of right of way (ROW) and/or easements changed on several properties. New plats and appraisals are in process, and updated offers will be sent to the impacted property owners.

Construction will follow the completion of ROW acquisition and coordination with utilities to relocate their facilities, currently estimated for spring 2021.

This project provides for the design, ROW acquisition and construction of intersection improvements and turn lanes at Waxpool Road (Route 625) and Pacific Boulevard and Broderick Drive. New turn lanes will be added at Pacific Boulevard from Columbia Place, AOL Drive and Broderick Drive. The project scope also includes modifications to allow right turns on a red signal on Pacific Boulevard at Waxpool Road, traffic signal modifications and improvements to the pedestrian network along Pacific Boulevard south of Waxpool Road.
