Revised Design in Process for Farmwell Road Intersection Improvements

Posted on November 18, 2020 at 3:43 PM by Heidi Kellum

The revised design for the Farmwell Road Intersection Improvements project is in process. This quarter, the new plan (at 60% design completion phase) will be submitted to Business and Development (B&D) and the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) for review and comment. Right of way (ROW) acquisition will follow the completion of the design, currently estimated for winter 2021.

This project provides for the design, ROW acquisition and construction of intersection improvements along Farmwell Road between Smith Switch Road and Ashburn Road. The current project scope includes the addition and/or modification of turn lanes and receiving lanes at several Farmwell Road intersections, including Farmwell Road and Ashburn Road, Farmwell Road at Dodge Terrace, Farmwell Road at Ashburn Village Boulevard, and Waxpool Road/Farmwell Road at Smith Switch Road. Pedestrian improvements and connectivity along the corridor are also part of the project scope.

Construction of the improvements is currently estimated to begin in 2023.
