Loudoun County Update

• A Year of COVID-19: One year ago today, March 10, 2020, Loudoun County announced that a resident had tested “presumptive positive” for COVID-19, the county’s first case of the coronavirus. One year later, vaccines are being administered and there is hope that the end of the pandemic is in sight. However, health officials urge everyone to continue to take precautions to slow the spread of the disease: 
  • Wear a mask that covers your nose and mouth to help protect yourself and others.
  • Stay 6 feet apart from others who don’t live with you.
  • Get a COVID-19 vaccine when it is available to you.
  • Avoid crowds and poorly ventilated indoor spaces.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water. Use hand sanitizer if soap and water aren’t available.
• Free COVID-19 Testing March 11: Loudoun County will hold another drive-thru COVID-19 testing event Thursday, March 11, 2021, at Philip A. Bolen Memorial Park, 42405 Claudia Drive, Leesburg (Enter the park from Sycolin Road onto Crosstrail Boulevard). The county is holding free, twice-weekly events on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m., at various locations this month. The testing schedule and links to registration forms that can be filled out in advance are available at loudoun.gov/covid19testing.
• Rent Assistance Available: Loudoun County has announced changes to the rent assistance program for people who are experiencing difficulty paying rent as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. More people may now be eligible for rent payment assistance from one of two programs: the county’s Limited Rent Assistance program and the Commonwealth of Virginia’s Rent Relief program. • Virtual Opioid Overdose Reversal Training: Health officials say while drug overdose deaths were already increasing in the months preceding the COVID-19 pandemic, studies suggest an acceleration of overdose deaths during the pandemic, led by synthetic opioids. Anyone who uses opioids or knows someone who does is encouraged to sign up for Loudoun County's Revive! training on how to recognize and respond to an opioid overdose. The free, virtual training lasts about one hour. Upcoming classes are scheduled for March 11, 15 and 18. Find out more information and register at loudoun.gov/revive.
