Construction Begins for Sterling Park Safety Center

Posted on April 5, 2021 at 9:07 AM by Heidi Kellum

In mid-February 2021, construction began on the Sterling Park Safety Center located on Commerce Street near East Holly Avenue in Sterling, Virginia.

Sterling area residents may notice crews erecting construction fencing around the backside of the existing station. In addition, the former PTEX automotive shop building on East Holly Avenue will be demolished and an interim station will be constructed. Demolition of the current station will take place in summer 2021. Once demolition is complete, construction on the new permanent station will begin.

This project provides funding to design and construct a new 22,000 square foot replacement station for the Sterling Volunteer Fire and Rescue Companies. The new facility will replace the current 8,772-square-foot building on this site dating from 1970 and provide more storage and parking. The one-acre property will also expand by a third of an acre.

Currently, construction is estimated to be complete in summer 2022.
