  • What to Do If You Received the J&J/Janssen COVID-19 Vaccine: The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) says if you received the Johnson & Johnson Janssen (J&J) COVID-19 vaccine more than three weeks ago, your risk of having a blood clot is very low and that risk will decrease over time. If you got the J&J vaccine within the last three weeks, your risk of developing a blood clot is also very low. However, you should be on the lookout for possible symptoms of a blood clot and seek medical treatment immediately if you have any of these symptoms:
    • Severe headache
    • Blurred vision
    • Fainting
    • Seizures
    • Pain in your abdomen (chest or stomach)
    • Leg pain or swelling
    • Shortness of breath
    • Read more about the pause in the J&J vaccine from the CDC.
  • Summer Camp Considerations: As summer fast approaches, parents may be considering overnight summer camps for their children. The Virginia Department of Health presents guidelines and best practices for overnight summer camps and provides information on what factors to consider when assessing risk and considerations for how overnight summer camps can help protect campers and staff. Read more from VDH on Summer Camps and Coronavirus.
    • The Loudoun County Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Services offers a robust summer camp program. There are full-day camps for children in grades K-8, adaptive recreation camps and specialty and sports camps at centers, parks and schools throughout the county. The goal of PRCS is for participants to experience their "best camp ever" with outdoor adventures, sports, art, horsemanship, science, nature, engineering, music, theater and more.
