Crews Make Progress on Interior and Exterior Finishes for Sterling Community Center

Posted on May 25, 2021 at 8:39 AM by Heidi Kellum

Crews working on the expansion and renovation project for the Sterling Community Center are making progress on the installation of building interior and exterior finishes. The Sterling Community Center building is undergoing renovations and an expansion that will add 2,000 square feet, improve access, and provide new outdoor spaces.

Over the last few weeks, work to install exterior brick was completed and the installation of the remaining exterior finishes, such as metal panels, has begun. Inside the facility, crews are completing drywall installation and beginning to paint finished walls. Throughout the next month, work to install interior partitions and exterior finishes will continue, and parking lot construction will begin.

The project, which will expand the 18,700 square-foot community center facility in Sterling, includes improving the entrances to the center, enlarging the gymnasium, renovating the outdoor pavilion, adding an outdoor amphitheater, creating new patio and lawn areas, and expanding the teen recreation area.

The Sterling Community Center project is expected to be completed in fall 2021. During the renovation, the center is providing services at an adjacent county-owned property at 150 Enterprise Street.
