Storm Water Work Continues for Round Hill to Franklin Park Trail

Posted on July 1, 2021 at 12:14 PM by Heidi Kellum

For the next several weeks, storm drain installation will continue for the Round Hill Project’s, which includes the design and construction of sidewalks and a shared-use path (pedestrian and bicycle) from the center of the Town of Round Hill to Franklin Park in Western Loudoun County. In addition, this also includes county management of the Town of Round Hill’s Main Street pedestrian and streetscape project.

An additional crew was recently added into the Main Street Improvements portion of the project to begin installing storm water structures and reinforced concrete storm-drain pipes. Over the next several weeks, storm drain installation will continue on E. Loudoun Street westbound and Main Street northbound.

A third crew is providing grading work for the Franklin Park Trail and has begun installation of the structures for stream crossing and dewatering devices along the ditch lines.

This project will construct a shared-use path that will link the center of Round Hill to Franklin Park, this link will include concrete sidewalks along both sides of E. Loudoun Street and Main Street to the location of the former W&OD railroad station. Additional Main Street enhancements and E. Loudoun Street include curbs, curb ramps, retaining walls and a new storm drainage system. When the project is completed, pedestrian connectivity between Round Hill and Franklin Park will be established, and pedestrian access and safety along East Loudoun Street and Main Street will be improved.
