Loudoun County to Begin Public Input Activities for the Route 9 Study

Posted on February 10, 2020 at 9:30 AM by Heidi Kellum

Loudoun County's Department of Transportation and Capital Infrastructure will hold the first in a series of public input activities later this month, a part of the Route 9 Safety and Operational Study.

The purpose of the study is to identify existing safety issues on Route 9 in Virginia, from the West Virginia border to Route 7, and to analyze roadway conditions and traffic data to address existing and future operational issues.  The study began in the summer of 2019 to evaluate existing conditions along Route 9, including roadway and intersection safety, roadway design and traffic. When the study is completed, the results will be presented to the Board of Supervisors with recommended improvements that can be implemented in phases.

A focus group, consisting of property owners, business owners and community groups, will provide input on the corridor through a facilitated discussion in an effort to capture local observations, perspectives and concerns along the corridor. Members of the public may observe the focus group meeting, which has been scheduled for February 13, 2020, at 6:00 p.m. at the Loudoun County Government Center; however, the public will not be able to participate in the discussion.

Public feedback is encouraged and at this time can be submitted in writing via email to the Department of Transportation and Capital Infrastructure. Future opportunities for public input will be announced at a later date.
