Loudoun County Update

  • Loudoun COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic at Dulles Town Center to Reopen: As we reported earlier today, Loudoun County will reopen the COVID-19 vaccination site at Dulles Town Center this Friday, September 17, 2021, by appointment only. The move comes in preparation for the federal and state health recommendations for COVID-19 vaccine booster doses and for vaccinating children ages 5-12. Because the Dulles Town Center site will reopen, the Health Department will cease operation of the COVID-19 vaccination clinic at Sterling Elementary School at this time. Anyone with an existing appointment at the Sterling Elementary School site will be contacted to transfer their appointment to the Dulles Town Center site. Find more details in this news release.
  • CDC Finds Unvaccinated 11 Times More Likely to Die of COVID-19New reports from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) show that unvaccinated people were four and a half times more likely to get COVID-19, over 10 times more likely to be hospitalized, and 11 times more likely to die from the disease. The CDC's latest data also provides evidence that booster shots could be necessary for many people in the coming months. The data was published in three separate studies September 10, 2021, in the agency's Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report.
  • Statement from State Health Commissioner: As COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations and deaths in the United States and in Virginia continue to rise, Virginia's top health official is expressing his support for the federal government’s latest initiatives to stop the transmission of COVID-19, particularly the fast-spreading Delta variant. Health Commissioner Dr. Norman Oliver says, “it is imperative we do all we can to beat back this surge.” Read more in this news release from the Virginia Department of Health.
  • Next COVID-19 Testing Event is September 21: The next Loudoun County-sponsored COVID-19 testing event is scheduled for Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at Claude Moore Park, 46150 Loudoun Park Lane in Sterling. Loudoun health officials encourage people to get tested if they are exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19, such as fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath, fatigue and a new loss of taste or smell or if they have been potentially exposed to someone with COVID-19, regardless of their vaccination status. To save time, you can fill out the required registration form ahead of time. The forms as well as information about other testing providers and the schedule of events may be found at
