• Total Vaccine Doses Administered - Loudoun: 650,370 (up 27,516 since last report) I  Virginia: 13,028,051 (up 351,438 since last report)

Loudoun County Update

• Vaccination Appointments Available for Children 5 - 11 This Week at Loudoun Clinic: COVID-19 vaccination appointments are available this week at Loudoun County's Dulles Town Center clinic for children ages 5 to 11. The clinic has vaccination appointments for children in this age group open as early as tomorrow, Tuesday, December 7, as well as Friday, December 10, and Saturday December 11, 2021. Analysis of new COVID-19 cases in Loudoun and Virginia shows that the highest rate of infection in children is among those ages 5 to 11. Visit loudoun.gov/covid19vaccine to make an appointment now. 
  • The presence of variants like Omicron further emphasizes the importance of vaccination. Everyone 5 and older should get vaccinated and boosters are recommended for everyone 18 years and older.
  • In addition to children ages 5 to 11, Loudoun County continues to offer vaccination appointments to anyone 12 years and older who has not yet received a vaccine or who is eligible for a booster dose. This includes: 
    • Residents who are 12 and older and have not yet received their first and/or second dose of COVID-19 vaccine. 
    • Residents who are moderately and severely immunocompromised individuals and are recommended by the CDC for a third dose of the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine.
    • Residents who are 18 and older who are eligible for a booster dose of the Johnson & Johnson, Moderna or Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines.
    • Loudoun County is currently offering all three types of vaccine (Pfizer, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson). Children 17 and younger must receive Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine.
    • Other vaccination opportunities from providers such as pediatricians’ offices and pharmacies are also available. Find vaccination appointments from any provider at vaccines.gov.
• Need a Replacement Vaccination Record? If you’ve misplaced your COVID-19 vaccination card, you can get a replacement vaccination record online from the Virginia Department of Health. The new record will include a QR code. The barcode, which can be scanned with smartphones, will allow anyone to show proof of vaccination with a digital or printed QR code instead of a paper card, and without the need for an app. A person vaccinated in Virginia can visit vaccinate.virginia.gov to obtain a free vaccination record with QR code, which can then be saved to a phone, printed on paper or stored in a compatible account. If you need assistance over the phone, call 1-877-VAX-IN-VA (1-877- 829-4682).
  
• Get a Flu Shot: With the 2021-22 flu season officially underway, the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) encourages all people in Virginia six months and older to get the influenza vaccine. Health officials say last year’s flu season was mild, probably due to the prevention strategies that people took against COVID-19 such as social distancing, wearing a mask indoors, staying home when sick, avoiding crowds and hand washing. And they say that makes it even more important to get the influenza vaccine this season because natural immunity may be lower.

• COVID-19 Testing Event Tuesday: Loudoun County continues to hold weekly COVID-19 testing events. The next COVID-19 testing event will be held tomorrow, Tuesday, December 7, 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at Dulles South Recreation & Community Center, 24950 Riding Center Drive, South Riding. The drive-thru events are free and open to all. Required registration forms can be filled out ahead of time. You can find links to the forms as well as the December schedule of testing events online at loudoun.gov/COVID19testing.
  • Health officials encourage anyone, regardless of vaccination status, who thinks they may have been exposed to COVID-19 to get tested as well as anyone exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19, such as fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath, fatigue and a new loss of taste or smell. In addition, anyone who plans to travel for the December holidays and gather with family and friends is also encouraged to get tested a few days before and after traveling or gathering in group.
