• Total Vaccine Doses Administered - Loudoun: 736,965 (up 15,920 since last report) I  Virginia: 14,286,360 (up 207,211 since last report)

Loudoun County Update

• COVID-19 Testing Events in Leesburg January 11 and 14: Loudoun County has scheduled free, drive-thru COVID-19 testing events this week at Philip A. Bolen Memorial Park, 42405 Claudia Drive, Leesburg, for Tuesday, January 11, and Friday, January 14, 2022. (Enter the park on Crosstrail Boulevard from Sycolin Road.) Testing is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m., but may begin early to mitigate traffic impacts. Here are important things to know: 
  • New Registration Form: In an effort to make the testing process more efficient, there is a new procedure for the required registration form, which can now be filled out and submitted online.  
    • Register online (English) | Español
  • The forms should be filled out and submitted online prior to the test. For anyone who cannot submit the forms online, paper forms will also be available at the testing site. Submitting the form in advance is not an appointment or a guarantee for a test. Given increased demand, the site may close when it reaches capacity. The form is required and asks for general information including name, date of birth, address and phone number. The information is kept private. 
  • Given increased demand, there may be a significant wait time in the drive-thru line. 
  • Capacity is limited by the space for vehicles and the need to complete testing during daylight hours. The county and its testing contractor intend to test as many people as possible given the constraints of space, time and staffing. 
  • Entrance to the park may be restricted intermittently to limit traffic impacts on Sycolin Road. Queuing on Sycolin Road will not be allowed. If testing capacity is reached, the site will close for the day.

• Vaccine Eligibility Expanded: Actions by federal and state regulators over the past week have expanded eligibility for COVID-19 vaccinations. Here is who is currently eligible: 
  • First and Second Doses: Everyone age 5 and older. 
  • Boosters: 
    • Everyone age 12 and older who received their second dose in the two-dose series of the Pfizer vaccine at least five months ago. The Pfizer vaccine is the only COVID-19 vaccine currently approved for ages 17 and under. 
    • Individuals who are 18 and older who received the second in a two-dose series of Pfizer vaccine or Moderna vaccine at least five months ago, or who received the J&J vaccine at least two months ago. 
  • ‘Mix and Match’ Boosters: Any of the three approved vaccines may be used as a booster, regardless of the product used in the initial vaccine series. Children ages 5 to 11 who are moderately or severely immunocompromised are eligible to receive a third dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine 28 days after the second dose. 
  • Make a COVID-19 vaccination appointment online to receive a vaccine at Loudoun County's Dulles Town Center clinic.
• Executive Order Issued to Help Hospitals Cope with Increase of COVID-19 Patients: Virginia Governor Ralph Northam has issued a limited 30-day order (PDF) to expand the number of available hospital beds, increase staffing capacity at hospitals and nursing homes, and allow public health agencies greater flexibility in responding to the COVID-19 pandemic. The action to increase Virginia’s hospital capacity and support health care workers responding to COVID-19 comes after a record number of hospitalizations were posted last week. The limited duration of the order is based on modeling that suggests the virus will peak in the next few weeks. Read more in the governor’s news release.
