Construction crews working inside the Loudoun County Courthouse Expansion project at the corner of Church Street and Edwards Ferry Road in downtown Leesburg are making visible progress framing the new courtrooms. The expansion project includes the design and construction of a new 92,000-square-foot Loudoun County District Courthouse and renovation of existing courts facilities, including new parking facilities.

On the outside of the building, crews have completed installation of the first air barrier in preparation for installing the roof. Roof installation will begin after the last of the materials arrive in May. Work to install brick veneer on the eastern façade of the courthouse is also nearing completion.

Crews are beginning site and security wall masonry work on the south side of the building site. The installation of dry utility duct banks for Dominion, Segra and Verizon is also underway on the west side of the building along Edwards Ferry Road and on the north side along Church Street. Framing work for curtainwall and windows has begun on the southside of the building in preparation for the installation of bullet-proof glazing.

Church Street from Market to Cornwall remains closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic. In this area, crews have begun preparations to drill micro-piles and the Support of Excavation (SOE) work for the new tunnel connecting the existing courthouse to the new courthouse. This work is expected to begin by early May 2022.

The Loudoun County Courthouse Expansion project is expected to be complete and open to the public in 2023.

Visitors to the Loudoun County Courthouse will continue to have access to free parking throughout the duration of the project at the Pennington Lot and Pennington Garage which are located approximately two blocks from the courthouse near the intersection of Church and North Streets, NE.
