WESTERN LOUDOUN MAN SENTENCED FOR DRUG OFFENSES

JUDGE IMPOSES 7 1/2 YEAR SENTENCE

LEESBURG, Virginia – November 10, 2014. A twenty-five year old Bluemont, Virginia man appeared before the Loudoun County Circuit Court for sentencing on one count of possession with intent to distribute more than 500 grams of cocaine and one count of possession with intent to distribute cocaine. The Hon. Judge Stephen E. Sincavage sentenced Israel Navarro-Ibarra to seven and a half years in the Virginia Department of Corrections. Five of the seven and a half years imposed is a mandatory minimum sentence as directed under the Virginia Code.

In November, 2013, members of the Virginia State Police Drug Enforcement Section conducted an undercover operation in which they identified Navarro-Ibarra as an individual who was distributing cocaine in Loudoun County. Navarro-Ibarra’s vehicle and residence were subsequently searched. Law enforcement recovered a shopping bag with approximately one kilogram of cocaine from Navarro-Ibarra’s bedroom. Another 330 grams of compressed cocaine, digital scales, packaging materials consistent with drug distribution, and other assorted drug paraphernalia were also removed from the home Navarro-Ibarra shared with his wife and three small children.

Based on the weight and the purity of the cocaine seized from Navarro-Ibarra, it is estimated to have an approximate street value of $135,000.

In addition to the total active sentence of seven and a half years in the Virginia Department of Corrections, Judge Sincavage imposed twelve and a half years of suspended time. Upon his release from prison, Navarro-Ibarra will be placed on supervised probation for a period of ten years. Should Navarro-Ibarra violate the terms of his supervised probation a portion of or any balance of the suspended time may be imposed by the Court.
